“I have a dream that one day... the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at a table of brotherhood.”

Martin Luther King, August 28, 1963

Martin Luther did you dream oe'er forty years ago
A black man named Obama would to the White House go?
Martin Luther as you sang, that We Shall Overcome,
And on that piano thump, or on a guitar strum,
That blacks would get those equal rights, that all white people had?
That black people would stop havin' it, so bad, so really sad?
Martin Luther did you dream oe'er forty years ago
A black man called Obama would to the White House go?

If you hadn't dreamt that dream of yours just forty years ago,
Then no black would've dreamt, to the whites White House would go.
But you did dream and now we see, history in the making,
Obama beating John McCain and with that victory taking.
It all starts with a dream doesn't it, a dream remarkably rare
A kind of dream that others wouldn't have the guts to dare.
It all starts with a dream, a dream you spread around
And hope some day it takes off and doesn't run aground.

I wish the same would happen, in this precious land of mine
That someone with a dream would make my India shine
We need a man with vision, the ones we have just now
Would sell home hearth and country for the carcass of a sow
We need someone who'd look beyond both religion or race
Someone brave with honesty, written all over his kind face.
We need a dreamer who will dare, dream, and someday send
Someone up like Obama, to change, fix and comprehend.

This New Year I dream, in this precious land of mine
That someone with such dream will make my India shine!
