Healthy eating is a great way to...

  • Have energy all day long.
  • Get the vitamins and minerals the body needs.
  • Stay strong for sports or other activities.
  • Reach your maximum height (if you are still growing).
  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Prevent unhealthy eating habits, like skipping meals and feeling overly hungry at the next meal.

  • APPLES: “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” is a saying we've been hearing for a long time. Believe us; it's not at all wrong as apple consumption appears to promote hair growth. In addition, scientific research continues to build more and more evidence that antioxidants in apples are protective against cardiovascular disease and cancer development and also reduces the aging effects.

FIGS: Figs are amongst those foods that were recommended by our grandmothers quite often as they are a good source of dietary fibre and help in relieving constipation.
Figs are a good source of calcium, a mineral that has many functions including promoting bone density. Additionally, potassium in figs may also counteract increased urinary calcium loss caused by high-salt diets, thus helping to further prevent bones from thinning out at a fast rate. Figs lower the levels of triglycerides and inhibit the growth of certain types of cancer cells in humans.
Consumption: 2-3 figs boiled in milk can be taken on alternate days. Overnight soaked figs can also be taken in the morning.
Precautions: Figs are well known for their mild laxative effect, so care should be taken when consuming them. Not more than three figs should be consumed at a time.

CINNAMON: Cinnamon is a common spice generally used in tea. It not only improves the taste of food but provides health benefits as well as it has an anti-clotting effect on the blood which is evident from the fact that ˝ tsp. of cinnamon powder has been helpful in lowering the LDL cholesterol. It also relieves arthritis pain apart from acting as one of the foods that clears up the channels and promotes overall health
Consumption: 1 cup of cinnamon water using 1-2 sticks twice a day is very good in promoting health and serves as mouth freshener as well.
Precautions: It is better to have cinnamon water instead of cinnamon tea. Also, it is advised to limit the quantity if one is suffering from excessive acidity.
These are some of the foods that can be included in one's routine, but apart from this, one should adopt a healthy way of eating as it is a way of balancing the food you eat to keep your body strong, energized and well nourished. When you eat well, you are taking good care of your body.
