It’s he who...

It's his lathi that made
Mother India walk.

It's his eyes that made
Mother India see.

It's his hands that took
Us to freedom.

It's his voice that helped
Mother India talk.

He was who shared his life
With Mother India.

And he is none other than
Our very own dearest 'Bapu'.

True prayer

Under the coconut tree
Lying along the shore of the see
With closed eyes
And a calm mind
I prayed to God
That every one should live in peace.

When my prayers were over
I opened my eyes
And to my astonishment
I saw that
Everyone was filled
With joy and peace.

Living in my heart

Lonesome days passed in a daze
Frightful nights were darkness stayed.
Moments when the world seemed a haze
Memories of you rushed through a maze.

Did someone tell me not to dream?
My mind seemed to whirl, as if in a stream.
Present, past, future and all…
Seems so muddled, I might fall.

Then I heard a thunder from heaven,
And you walked out of my life again.
Come to me… I called in vain,
’Cos living in my heart causes so much pain.
