13-year-old Nimmit made his camera debut as early as while studying in class two. His first ad was for a chocolate called 'Parle Orange'. Nimmit even today rates it as one of his best performances. Since then, there was no turning back. However, it was never an easy start, as he recalls, "I forgot everything when I stood for the first time in front of the camera. I was speechless and nervous. But the crew members, my mother and all others were very supportive and eventually I over came my fear". His movies include Paa, Dil Bole Haddippa, Dhamal and a forthcoming movie called Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. Speaking about his greatest challenge, Nimmit says "Balancing studies with shooting schedules is really tough. If given a choice though I would prefer studies to acting, I thoroughly enjoy acting as well". He is happy that his principal, teachers and friends understand and support him in his studies. He is also passionate about dancing, mono act and mimicry. "Be true to yourself," says Nimmit who is inspired and motivated by the legendary Amitabh Bachchan who kept his promise to sit with Nimmit and his friends during the premiere of Paa. Taking a cue from the actor's gesture Nimmit says "Be true to yourself and don't ever promise anything if you can't keep them." Nimmit's simplicity, so obvious in the way he talks, is truly inspiring. When asked about this he is quick to give all credits to his mother who always reminded him, "Be down to earth and learn to be humble. Never allow success to enter your head. Be compassionate in your words and deeds." As a young celebrity Nimmit dreams of a country where there is no discrimination on the basis of cast creed and language. His passionate desire is to create awareness among teenagers about various social issues by making documentaries to educate them. |
