Your teen years are your best — so don't ruin them with too much make-up or outlandish hairstyles! We speak to advertising (the new Tanishq and Benzer campaigns) and feature film hair and make-up artiste CARL SEQUEIRA, who shares how to make the best of your face and hair!

PAMPERING YOUR HAIR

Guys and girls, a great natural conditioner: mix 2-3 tablespoons of curd with the yolk of an egg. Leave on hair for an hour or two and then wash off.

To treat hair with conditioner, apply it from only halfway down to the ends. Comb through and leave for 4-5 minutes before washing off. Do not apply on scalp, since that blocks the pores.

Transparent shampoos are best since they are highly cleansing. Opaque shampoos tend to build up scalp residue over time.

For a funky night look: glitter sprays add that touch. Or even sparkle powder can be dusted on the hair. But don't use too often and damage the hair.

Girl hair rules: for a day style, there’s nothing like a clean, high ponytail for a fresh clean look. Low messy buns make you look ten years older!

MAKING UP YOUR FACE

The ideal look to hang out or watch a movie with in the day: light pastel eye pencil, soft peach cheeks, soft tone lip colour and perhaps colourless mascara!

Night eyeliners can go into deeper shades like deep green, blue, purple, magenta, rust and copper. For that slightly funky look, you could colour coordinate your mascara!

Teens should forget lip pencils — they look too strong. Very natural, minimal coloured soft pinks and peaches set the right tone. Ideally, mix your lip colour with colourless lip gloss.

Younger skins cannot carry matt finished products — be it for the eyes or lips. It adds unnecessary years to your face!

People with darker skins should use deeper shades of make-up — like more coppers, browns, beiges and reds. For lighter skins: pastels, blues and greens go best.
