25 Sparkling Subodh Seasons

CAN you imagine the late great pop star Michael Jackson performing break- dances on a Rajasthani folk song? Not an impossibility at all! It happened at Su-Bodh Public School, Jaipur on February 10, 2010, except that Michael Jackson was a student from the school.

Su-Bodh Public School, one of the leading schools in Jaipur, celebrated 25 years of its glorious journey in imparting quality education to thousands of students with a musical nite titled, "Bayaar Ek Sondhi Khushboo".

More than 300 students along with 50 teachers were actively involved in this special performance, put up to mark the special occasion. The three-hourlong live event saw violin and flute recitals, teachers and students in unison singing Hindi movie songs from yesteryears till date, medley of scintillating dance presentations and theatrical performances. The entire evening was witnessed by almost 10,000 people, including parents, students and ex-students.

Mrs Bela Joshi

The evening programme kick-started with a song by the sparkling star of the school, Mrs Bela Joshi, who incidentally completed 25 years as Principal of the school. Speaking on the occasion, Mrs Joshi recalled the humble beginning of the school 25 years ago with just 7 rooms, 65 students and 8 staff members. Today Su-Bodh nurtures more than 3500 students with excellent facilities for sports and other co-curricular activities with the whole hearted support of more than 200 staff members. "It has been a very fruitful and fulfilling experience," said Mrs Joshi. "I am a hard nut to crack. It was always my inner voice that drove me to excel. Every moment I spent with Su-Bodh was just satisfying. Every moment was special to me; like the first computer in the school to accolades from my past students etc."

Su-Bodh Public School (CBSE board) strives to groom future leaders by providing resources of highest quality in a caring, stimulating and structured environment favouring not only for students' academic excellence but also for their social, cultural and physical development as well. Ever since he participated in TEEN OF THE YEAR 2009 (a national level personality event organized by THE TEENAGER), Darshan has been involved in various creative ventures to bring out the best in himself and thus become a productive citizen of the country. Incidentally, he was chosen as the 'Most Talented Participant' at TEEN OF THE YEAR 2009.

The latest feather in his cap is the launch of a unique talk show titled "Past, Present & Future". The show aims to bring together representatives of three generations on a given theme. 'Past' is represented by a senior citizen, 'present' by an adult and the 'future' by a teenager. Each representative speaks out their mind on the given topic, sharing knowledge and information from their lived experience and perspective.

The first episode of this novel talkshow was broadcast on January 26, 2010. The theme discussed was 'Preserving Indianness in a Global India' (the theme of TEEN OF THE YEAR 2009). On the whole it was a meeting point of three generations of people on a common platform. The entire idea was conceptualized by Darshan Vohra and broadcast by JMD News, a local news channel.
