60 Principles for Success
Dr A. Peter
BETTER YOURSELF BOOKS, 181 pp, Rs 95/-

60 Principles for Success is probably the most non-fussy book one would have come across — no “Foreword”, no “Afterword”, and not even an “Introduction”! And yet, its USP (unique selling point) is that its contents bring you straight to the point by hitting the nail on its head so to say! Do you have a dream to realize, a goal to reach or a project to complete and are anxious about where to begin and how to proceed? This book enables you to see that on the one hand there is absolutely no short cut to success and, on the other, no need to panic. Of course, there is no single formula as such for success. Rather, the principles presented here, born as they obviously are of the author’s personal experience in varied fields, will each have you put on your thinking cap to likewise identify for yourself the best possible steps that will help you achieve what you deeply desire in life.

Easy to learn and apply, Dr Peter’s sixty tried and tested principles for success are powerfully charged with inspiration that would motivate you to achieve success in every sphere of life. Take for example, success principle # 31: “Big-dream-building Principle” (p 91). “Every great success begins with a dream,” insists the author. Indeed, “If you take an acorn, plant it and water it daily, it will grow into an oak tree. The same is true of your dreams”. Need one say more?

Success principle # 39 (p 116) is an eye-opener that is bound to benefit the reader no end, for it pertains to one aspect of life most human beings take most for granted! And that is, “time”. Dr Peter says, “Time management is the least understood, the most ignored and the worst managed… Your time is your life. Time management is really life management and management of self”. In fact, it doesn’t take much effort to see that Dr Peter’s principles concern concrete reality and thus have the power to change life’s course for the reader.

There is absolutely no gainsaying the fact that “60 PRINCIPLES FOR SUCCESS” is a book that deserves to be on every bookshelf ever. Purchasing a copy, whether for personal use or as a gift for someone, would be an ideal investment worth both the buyer’s and the reader’s while. After all, the Chennai-based author whose other works include “Youth Entrepreneurship Everywhere”, is Founder-Executive Director of two grass roots level NGOs, viz. the Applied Interdisciplinary Development Research Institute (AIDRI) and the Youth Entrepreneurship Development Organization (YEDO).
