No, I strongly feel the Class 10 Board Exams should never be scrapped since they are a vital stepping stone in every student’s career. If these exams are scrapped, students will find it difficult to handle other important competitive examinations like MHT-CET, IIT, IAS, IFS, BBA, MBA, etc. Secondly, majority of the students may not be able to cope with the increased pressure of future exams. Students will also take the Class 10 Exams in a lighter vein. On the contrary, if Class 10 Exams are held, students will be able to tackle tougher situations in a mature manner.

Scrapping board exams? The idea itself is horrendous! I would undoubtedly vote for a NO. For years, the Indian system of education has been proceeding with the 10th standard board exams as an important landmark in the system, these exams being the deciders of a student’s career… It is the aim and the will to get into a good school or college for specialisation in a subject stream that students throughout India work hard for their tenth boards. The boards are the only serving criteria to filter the students faring well from the ones performing not so successfully. It is the one examination which holds a high level of importance for teachers, students, parents, schools, colleges and institutions alike throughout the country. The situation of education; if these exams were scrapped can just be imagined: no criteria for judgement of the students’ performance, for entrance in any educational institution and for the decision of the future of the young minds of the country. The tenth board exams are something that will forever personify the Indian system of education.

Absolutely not! The government does not have any right to scrap the board examination. As I am a student of Std IX, I think that scrapping the board examination won’t lead to any improvement in the quality of education; instead it will lead only to deterioration because the students will lose the motivation and incentive to study. It might work wonders for those who are lazy but it might become a curse for those students who dream of passing with a good percentage. The dreams of those students getting to the top by scoring 90’s will totally be shattered. Education is the only means which paves path for the overall development of a student. There will be no competition left between the students and our country cannot progress without competition. As the question comes to the suicide cases or stress, it won’t lead if we have a perfect schedule for studies. Therefore I conclude by saying that the government should not scrap the tenth board examination.

I feel that 10th boards should not be scrapped. The simple reason being that it prepares the child to face the tough competition that lies ahead of him/her. It is a standardized paper on basis of which all entrances to higher education are judged. But, yes, I would admit that they should not hype up the exams as being the ultimate in proving a child’s intelligence because this is where the comparisons arise amongst each other and ultimately lead to complexities and inferiority complexes.

The 10th standard board exam should not be scrapped as it is the first level of state wide competitive exams. After the school life the student enters into a competitive world not only with class mates but also all students across the state. So I feel it is a good break for a student to explore his mind and prove his talent at a very basic level which sharpens his brain and gives him more avenues to explore his career.

These exams should be abolished because all said and done; students in the 10th standard are not old enough to cope with the pressure of boards especially when parents place extra stress on outstanding performance. I definitely believe that by abolishing these exams students stress will surely come down and lessen cases of students committing suicide or depression, etc.

Scrapping of 10th boards is completely futile. The only purpose it would serve is that students, who otherwise have been serious with their studies, would now take the studies lightly. The logic that the government has offered that it would reduce the burden of “weak” students is not at all acceptable. If students are not given a reason to study, how and why will they improve?

I believe that government should scrap 10th board exams because such exams put a lot of pressure on students, and then there are cases of students leading to drastic steps under pressure. I feel that students should not be made to work so hard which makes them go in to depression problems at a very young age. The grading system of exams can be changed and students should be rewarded with grades rather than marks so that there is no discrimination among the students when they set themselves for a new life in college.

There is an anonymous saying, “I was born intelligent but education has ruined me”. To prove this point let me ask a question, “How many Indians have won medals in the last ten year’s Olympics as well as the Nobel Prize? Only in single or two digits out of the billion plus population!! I believe there must be a thorough change in Indian education system. I fully support Kapil Sibal.
The Class 10 board exam is not the only criterion to judge a student’s capability and intelligence. Many budding ‘Roger Federers’ or ‘David Beckhams’ of India are ruined because of the Indian education system as parents generally hesitate to make their child a player or a singer and bring name and fame to the nation. As a consequence students suffer from exam phobia and become disease prone. I believe Government must introduce grading system along with continuous evaluation test involving both academics and co-curricular subjects in class 10 in near future.

I feel that the board examination at such a level has to be scrapped as the student goes from his 9th standard to the next level, so there must be some get away from that. The students must not be pressurized at such a young level as if there are failures at the very start of life then the student does not study further or the impact at such a young brain carries with him till the next level.

I strongly believe that the Std 10 board examinations should be scrapped because at the age of 15 we, children, are not totally ready to give an examination which determines our future. Also due to the amount of stress and various phobias people fall sick and even tend to attempt suicide too. According to me the Government must pass the Bill and let it come into action soon. Also there is a lot of peer pressure, parents expectations and self-image that comes into consideration. Even today’s competitive attitude causes lots of problems.
